Make Money Online- the Baby Steps part 2

We only need to get three things done in order to be up and running: choose a domain name, sign up for web hosting and build our web site. Let´s start by the first step; choosing a domain name. There are a number of things you need to consider when you choose your domain name, and we will walk you through some of the more important choices to consider. If you already have a domain name in place, you can skip this part if you like and head straight for “Make Money Online- the Baby Steps part 3″. If you don´t have a domain name, let´s get straight to it.

First thing´s first. A domain name is simply the adress of your web site. The internet is a large place, and in order to go to a certain website you can simply type their domain name in your internet browser. The domain name of this site is www.Richopedia.com and if you type that in your internet browser and press enter you will reach our site.

There are a number of things you might want to consider when choosing a domain name, here are some of the more important ones, according to our experience:

1. Your domain name should not be too long. The shorter the domain name the better in general.

2. Your domain name should be simple. Easy to spell, easy to read, easy to type, and easy to remember.

3. Your domain name should be a dot-com. Always.

4. Your domain name should preferably be unique. Not easily confused with other sites.

5. Your domain name should not contain numbers or hyphens/dashes.

6. Your domain name should clearly reflect what it is you do. Also, if possible, the domain name should contain at least one keyword reflecting what you do.

7. Use a domain selection tool to determine whether a domain name is available. Click here, or just type “domain name search” in your browser to search for available domain names.

8. When you have found a domain name that is available and you like it, got to your registrar of choice and buy it. It should set you back around $ 10 for the first year.

So, you have decided on a great domain name and you are ready to go to the next step on your journey to operate you very own web site. Let´s have a look at how to sign up to web hosting in part 3 of our guide.
